On Wednesday, September 12, Apple unveiled their latest iPhones to the world, and even though it was not a groundbreaking design change, it was an intriguing update for those looking to upgrade.
Although it was your typical “S” year, Apple has stepped up their game as far as what is under the hood. They have equipped their new iPhone Xs and Xs Max with the A12 Bionic chip. This upgrade is a huge step up as far as internals and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Apple calls it ‘the smartest and most powerful chip ever in a smartphone’ and it is 50 percent faster than last year’s A11 chip. That means that your apps will run faster and whatever you need to get done on your phone, will be accomplished faster than before.
Apple’s new iPhones will also be IP68 water resistant. That means if you accidentally submerge your Xs or Xs Max in water, it will be okay for up to 30 minutes, which is better than the industry standard.
The camera(s) have been upgraded as well. One of the rear cameras is a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and the other is a 12-megapixel telephoto camera that takes some really gorgeous pictures. Along with the improved cameras come improved True Tone flash that will take any dull picture and make it incredible. The front of the camera contains a 7-megapixel camera that is twice as fast as last year’s model.
The Xs is almost identical in size to last year’s X model, but this year, they have added a bigger model to the lineup. The Xs Max has a 6.5-inch display where the Xs has a 5.8-inch display. Both have OLED displays so the pictures on the screen will be crystal clear. It is understandable to be concerned with the size of the Max model, but if you have ever held a Plus model of an iPhone, it is the same size but with more screen real estate.
The battery has also been upgraded. To compare, the iPhone X had a 2716 mAh battery. The Xs has a 2800 mAh battery and the Xs Max has a 2716 mAh (the largest battery in an iPhone ever). Ultimately, it will increase your battery life for up to 90 minutes, which is great for people who always carry around their phone chargers. Along with the improved battery life, the wireless charging has increased in speed as well.
With bigger and better features comes a bigger price tag as well. The iPhone Xs starts at $999 for the 64 GB model, $1,149 for the 256 GB model and $1,349 for the 512 GB model. With the iPhone Xs Max it gets even higher. The 64 GB model is $1,099, 256 GB goes for $1,249 and the 512 GB goes for $1,449.
So, with all that said, are you going to upgrade? If you have an iPhone X, it may not be worth upgrading since the changes are mainly internal. But if you have an older phone, this is definitely a phone worth upgrading to. We recommend going to your local Apple store and trying it out for yourself.
If you love your hover board, I’m sure you have been in a situation when you were riding down the street and you hear a beep or some kind of alert telling you that your battery is running low. Though this can be really frustrating, it is bound to happen since the hover board is a battery operated device. Let’s go through how long your battery will last.
If you want to get the most out of your hover board battery, the best way to find out is from the very beginning. When you are in the market to purchase your board, it is best to do your research first before spending your hard earned cash to get one. Some batteries last sixty minutes while others last up to four hours. It really depends on the brand. If you are not in that boat and you already own a hover board but you are disappointed with your battery life, it might not be a bad idea to carry an extra battery on you for those long rides.
So now you have done your research and you may even have an extra battery pack, here are ways to boost the life of your hover board’s battery. Like every electronic, the battery will work extraordinarily well in the beginning but eventually will lose some of its power. You may notice that you have gone hours in your first couple of battery charges but then performance will slowly diminish. Do not worry! This is normal for any rechargeable lithium-ion battery. One way to help save the life of your battery is to not wait until your battery is completely dead before charging it. It is recommended that you stop riding when the power goes just below twenty percent before charging to prevent any issues.
Another way to improve battery performance is to make sure the temperature of your battery is almost always cool. Of course it is difficult to do that since the hover board will heat up the battery, but when not in use, it should be stored in a cool area about room temperature. If it is stored in environments with higher temperatures, it might be dangerous and could potentially cause a fire.
Avoiding overcharges is another way to help improve the life of your hover board battery. It is a mistake that everyone will make and will continue to make. But if you are diligent with keeping in mind that the health of your battery is at stake, then you will remember to not leave the battery charging overnight. You must also remember to unplug your battery and not leave it to be charged for hours after it is at one hundred percent.
In conclusion, the life of your battery is largely based on the brand and model of the hover board and battery. The typical battery will provide you with a good time on your hover board. But you must remember to follow the guidelines listed above to ensure the maximum satisfaction of your hover board experience.
Who doesn’t like to save money? I know I do. And many Americans are doing just that by cutting the cord. What that means is that they are going to their cable provider and canceling all cable television subscriptions and only going with the internet. So you may ask, “How can I watch my shows with just internet?” I will go into detail about a few ways to watch your favorite shows without paying the heavy fees.
If you like your local television, the easiest way to get those channels is to buy an antenna. There are many antennas on the market that can bring in your favorite local channels, such as NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox and more, in the crystal clear high definition for free. It is easy to set up and a no-brainer if you want to save money.
So, you have your antenna set up. The next thing to do is to order high-speed internet through your internet service provider. You want to have enough speed to support streaming so the minimum for standard definition is 2 Mbps. For high definition in 1080p, it is recommended that you have at least 12 Mbps. Make sure you go above and beyond so that you do not run into any buffering issues.
The next thing you can do is subscribe to premium channels such as HBO, Showtime, and Starz to watch all your favorite movies and exclusive shows. These companies offer different ways to watch their channel such as on your television through an app, on a tablet and even on your cell phone. All you need is internet access.
A way to get the best of both worlds is subscription-based streaming services. Companies such as Hulu, Sling TV, YouTube TV and DirectTV Now are all competing to get your business. They all offer a plethora of channels along with local and premium channels starting at around $40. These too can be accessed on your television via a streaming device such as the Apple TV, Roku or Amazon Fire and can also be played through an app on your tablet and/or cell phone. Thankfully, these companies offer 7 day free trials so the best way to find out what works best is to try them out for yourself.
There are also other subscription-based companies such as Amazon Prime and Netflix that offer exclusive television shows and movies for a low cost. With the rise in popularity in these services, it is almost the norm to have both a streaming service along with a subscription to Netflix and you would still be paying less than you were to the big cable providers.
So there you have it. The future of television is not paying your cable subscriber boat loads of money and being underwhelmed by what you are receiving. The future is the antenna and streaming. Many people around have already adopted this way of living to cut back on the costs so it would be wise to do more research on exactly what is best for you and your family.
Who says hover boards are only for kids? Adults can enjoy some time on hover boards but it is very important to decide which one is perfect for you. We have put together a list of three different hover boards and some of their attributes that adults can enjoy.
The first one on the list is the Swagtron T6 Off-Road Hover Board. This board has a blend of high quality along with high performance. The board itself it 10.5×25.7×10 inches and weighs about 32 lbs. It can hold an adult up to 420 pounds. The max speed that this board can reach is about 12 mph, which is on the higher end of speed for those who like to ride fast. It also has an above average battery life which can go up to 12 miles on a single charge. The downsides to this hover board is that it is on the pricier side. It also has a bulkier body which could be inconvenient for people with smaller frames.
The next board on the list is the Halo Rover Hover Board. This is the sturdiest board on the list because it is made with super high quality parts. It 11×8.7×27.5 inches long and weighs about 22 lbs. This board can hold an adult up to 265 lbs. The max speed this board can reach is somewhere between nine to ten miles per hour. The board has some pretty awesome features such as Bluetooth music playback and LED lights. It also can provide a smooth ride on even the roughest of surfaces. Some of the downsides to this board is that customers have complained about the outer casing coming apart. Another negative on this board is the high cost.
The final board on the list is the Bluefin 6.5’ Classic Swegway Hover Board. This board is not meant for everyone because of its smaller wheels. It’s recommended that smaller adults use this board. But Bluefin has really packed a lot of great features in this product. The dimensions are 6×62.23×9 inches and weighs in at 22 lbs. This is the only board on the list that comes in several colors to match the rider’s personality. It tops off at around 6-9 mph. This board also comes with a carrying bag which a lot of boards do not provide. The battery life is superb where you can go around six hours on a short two hour charge. It also features Bluetooth speakers as well. The only downside to this board is that some customers have reported that the charger is not always reliable.
There you have it. The three boards that are highly recommended for adults. The only way to find out which hover board is perfect for you is to go test them out for yourself.
Hoverboards are the future! They are currently a lot of people’s favorite mode of transportation in the present but they are looked upon as a futuristic item. Each hoverboard is different and a lot of them come with different features. I am going to explain four out of the many different features to look for when you purchase a hoverboard.
One feature available to the consumers are all-terrain compatibility. What that means is that your hoverboard will have a mode where it will be able to go on grass, concrete, sand, soil or anything like that. The best way to see if a board is compatible with those surfaces is to examine the wheels to see if they have better traction than other hover boards on the market. Also, if the particular hoverboard advertises an “all-terrain mode” or an “increased stability”, then you can bet that those are going to be able to ride on those tough surfaces.
Another feature to look for is not something necessarily vital to the riding experience, but it is becoming a must-have if you want to be the life of the party. Bluetooth connectivity is somewhat a new technology when it comes to hoverboards. With speakers attached to the board itself, you will be able to listen to your favorite music to keep you pumped during your rides. It will require a Bluetooth enabled device such as a smartphone or a computer to connect to the board. As of right now, Bluetooth connectivity is the most popular feature when it comes to shopping for hoverboards.
A convenient feature to have when it comes to shopping for a new hoverboard is finding one with an LCD display. One complaint that most hoverboard riders had was never knowing how much battery life they had on their rides. Having an LCD display solves that issue. It will also give off warnings if you are running low on power. Other great advantages that an LCD display has on hoverboards is that it could show you the outdoor temperature along with how fast you have been traveling and many other things as well.
The final feature to look for when buying a new hoverboard is finding one that has the self-balancing technology. We all know that riding a hoverboard comes with the steep learning curve. The self-balancing feature helps alleviate any fears of falling off and hurting oneself. The board itself is programmed to keep you on the hoverboard by counterbalancing whichever direction you are leaning towards. This is a great feature for kids and even older riders that want to enjoy some time on the board without the risk of injuring themselves.
This is just a short list of great features to look for when buying your next hoverboard. We recommend doing some research to see what is important to you in order to maximize your riding experience.
Is your son or daughter asking for a hoverboard for their birthday? Or maybe you are in the market to buy one for yourself. Buying a hoverboard could be a challenging thing especially if you do not know what you are looking for. According to My Self Transport, there are four things to look for when in the market to buy a hoverboard.
The first thing to look for is safety. It is recommended that the hoverboard is UL 2272 licensed. Which means it passes all safety points regarding the battery and the charger system and is not vulnerable to any danger when it comes to riding. There have been several cases of hoverboards catching on fire while riding. The problem lies in the lithium-ion battery. Some manufacturers are notorious for cutting corners and jeopardizing the safety of their customers. Watch out for safety recalls when buying the hoverboard.
The second is looking for buyers with good ratings or reputation. Typically, if the buyer offers you a 30-day money back guarantee, then it is safe to buy from them. You also want to know that the buyer is knowledgeable when it comes to the product. A good way determines that is to carefully inspect their site and see if they are properly equipped with information that you need. Try contacting them and asking any questions that you may have.
The third is looking for hoverboards that ride well on different types of surfaces. Whether it is a rough surface like concrete or gravel or maybe even a surface like grass, you want to make sure that your hoverboard will get you to your destination. It is recommended that you purchase a hoverboard that has large wheels. Specifically, ones that are bigger than the standard 6.5 inches. With that said, it is recommended that you ride on flat surfaces to protect the hoverboard as a whole.
The fourth and final thing to look for when buying a hoverboard is to make sure that the board that you are going to buy will be able to accommodate the weight of the rider. There are different sized boards that can handle different weight classes. A hoverboard that is 4.5” can handle someone up to 120 lbs. A 6.5” board can handle weight up to 220 lbs. A hoverboard that is 8” can hold someone up to 265 lbs. And a 10” board can hold a maximum load capacity of 330 lbs. Please make sure you are extra careful when choosing your hoverboard.
As you can see, there are several important factors when thinking about buying a new hoverboard. It is great to find a board that looks good or has a nice design on it, but what is more crucial is to find one that is right for you. To ensure the safety and ease of purchasing your new board, it is vital to follow these steps.
It was late 2014 when I was sitting in front of my computer watching Apple’s keynote when Tim Cook introduced what would now be one of the things I cannot leave my house without. Before then, I was a casual watch wearer. I had a few fancy timepieces, one that I got a present from my parents and another that I got as a wedding present from my in-laws. But I only wore them on special occasions. My wrist was typically naked. Until that one day when I saw the CEO of Apple wearing that watch as he introduced the different features, I fell in love.
No matter how much I loved the product, I was not willing to pay top dollar for the premium Apple Watch, which was close to $500. But I kept my eyes open to see if there were any price drops.
One day, I received a coupon to Target for 20% off of any item. Before I read the fine print, I was sure that Apple products would be excluded from the discount, but to my surprise, it was not. So I confidently took the coupon to my nearest Target and headed towards electronics to find what I’ve been waiting for for so long. I was in luck! They had it in stock! The Target employee rung up the watch applied the discount and voila, I was the newest owner of a brand new Apple Watch.
The car ride home was filled with excitement and joy. My wife was in the passenger seat and could see how happy I was to go home, open it up and start playing with it. I got my little knife that I usually open my new gadgets with and proceeded to rip open the shrink wrap. I opened the box and there it was. Such beauty encapsulated in this little square shaped watch.
I proceeded to set it up. It took a lot longer than I thought it would. But I guess things this complex do not always happen as quickly as we want it to. While it was setting up, I started turning the digital crown, getting used to the feel of it on my wrist. Looking at the sharp images on the beautiful Retina Display on the watch was just amazing.
The setup process was finally complete! I was actually nervous to wear it. Maybe it was the anticipation or maybe it was because I did not want to break it. But that all went away after a few minutes on my wrist.
One of the features of the Apple Watch is receiving notifications and calls right from your wrist. I remember using my wife’s cell phone to call my watch and talk into my watch to talk back. It was amazing! I felt like I was in the old cartoon Dick Tracey where he had a futuristic watch that he used to talk into. Also, I remember getting my first text message and email alert. I could reply back without even bringing my phone out of my pocket. It was life-changing.
Another feature is the fitness tracker. I was typically never one to count my steps because I knew that I always got enough because of my job, but this actually gave me a visual representation of how much I was walking/exercising/standing throughout the day. You can also keep track of your heart rate as well. There are also achievements that you can unlock and rings that you can close if you walk or exercise on consecutive days. This proves how smart the people over at Cupertino are because it makes you want to achieve those goals which means you MUST have it on your wrist at all times. Genius!
Apple Pay is also a feature that is fairly new but something that I use frequently. Until you actually try it and look like a fool doing so, you will understand how convenient it really is. It works almost the same as it would on your phone without actually taking your phone out. Instead, you double-click the button on the watch and hold your wrist up to the card reader, wait for the tone to sound and you’re ready to go. Places like The Apple Store, Best Buy, Panera Bread and other participating locations are where you can use it. I remember getting a few funny looks from people in the beginning but now, it’s actually become normal.
In conclusion, I’ve had several people as recently as last week come up to me and ask me, “is it worth having?” My response is a resounding YES! There really is not much this thing cannot do. Is it perfect? No. There are things that they need to upgrade as far as software and parts of the hardware, but all in all, it’s a product that will be around for years and years to come.
