Apple iPhone Upgrade

On Wednesday, September 12, Apple unveiled their latest iPhones to the world, and even though it was not a groundbreaking design change, it was an intriguing update for those looking to upgrade.

Although it was your typical “S” year, Apple has stepped up their game as far as what is under the hood. They have equipped their new iPhone Xs and Xs Max with the A12 Bionic chip. This upgrade is a huge step up as far as internals and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Apple calls it ‘the smartest and most powerful chip ever in a smartphone’ and it is 50 percent faster than last year’s A11 chip. That means that your apps will run faster and whatever you need to get done on your phone, will be accomplished faster than before.

Apple’s new iPhones will also be IP68 water resistant. That means if you accidentally submerge your Xs or Xs Max in water, it will be okay for up to 30 minutes, which is better than the industry standard.

The camera(s) have been upgraded as well. One of the rear cameras is a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and the other is a 12-megapixel telephoto camera that takes some really gorgeous pictures. Along with the improved cameras come improved True Tone flash that will take any dull picture and make it incredible. The front of the camera contains a 7-megapixel camera that is twice as fast as last year’s model.

The Xs is almost identical in size to last year’s X model, but this year, they have added a bigger model to the lineup. The Xs Max has a 6.5-inch display where the Xs has a 5.8-inch display. Both have OLED displays so the pictures on the screen will be crystal clear. It is understandable to be concerned with the size of the Max model, but if you have ever held a Plus model of an iPhone, it is the same size but with more screen real estate.

The battery has also been upgraded. To compare, the iPhone X had a 2716 mAh battery. The Xs has a 2800 mAh battery and the Xs Max has a 2716 mAh (the largest battery in an iPhone ever). Ultimately, it will increase your battery life for up to 90 minutes, which is great for people who always carry around their phone chargers. Along with the improved battery life, the wireless charging has increased in speed as well.

With bigger and better features comes a bigger price tag as well. The iPhone Xs starts at $999 for the 64 GB model, $1,149 for the 256 GB model and $1,349 for the 512 GB model. With the iPhone Xs Max it gets even higher. The 64 GB model is $1,099, 256 GB goes for $1,249 and the 512 GB goes for $1,449.

So, with all that said, are you going to upgrade? If you have an iPhone X, it may not be worth upgrading since the changes are mainly internal. But if you have an older phone, this is definitely a phone worth upgrading to. We recommend going to your local Apple store and trying it out for yourself.
